November 18-19 saw 140 Virginia TSA members and advisors gathering at the Wyndham Crossings in Glen Allen, VA. for the annual Leadership Academy. The goal of this Leadership Event is to encourage and develop leadership among Virginia TSA members to use at the local, state and national levels. Friday evening was a time to get to know one another and hear what caused the current Virginia TSA Executive council to become interested in being leaders. Several Ice Breaker activities were held and heard an inspiring speech by current Tennessee TSA State President, Simon Jolly and Immediate Past President Blake McKinney. Theyexplained how their experiences in TSA have helped them inside and outside of TSA and challenged the attendees to make the most of their TSA experience. Finally, a meet and greet time with the state officer team ended the evening. On Saturday groups were rotated through a series of sessions to help develop students skills in leadership. Workshops were designed around reality TV [programs. This years theme was: Channel 2016; Virginia TSA Network. Lots of good food and fellowship was enjoyed throughout the weekend. Virginia TSA Competitive Event Addendum
The Addendum should be carefully studied to qualify the differences between the National TSA Conference Competitive Events Guide and how Virginia TSA manages the competitions at the regional and state conferences.
Virginia TSA has been privileged over the years to be associated with many leaders who have demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities and provided high distinction within TSA and the Technology Education profession. Virginia TSA desires to continue that Tradition of Excellence and therefore each year offers three separate scholarships in honor of these distinguished professional leaders. Please seek out those graduating seniors who fit these qualities and apply for one of these Scholarships listed below.
